Research:
Memories for events are initially mediated by a network that centers on the hippocampus, but it gradually becomes embedded in a network that centers on the medial prefrontal cortex (Takehara et al., 2003; Takehara-Nishiuchi et al., 2006; Takehara-Nishiuchi and McNaughton,2008). The overarching goal of my research is to understand how this reorganization of the memory network takes place and how acquired memories are represented in the network of neurons in the hippocampus and neocortex.
